That’s why I’ve put together 3 effective field hockey drills to improve agility that can you anywhere with just 5-10m of space. With agility being a large part of hockey, these drills focus on short and sharp movements while still maintaining control of the ball. Two players, facing each other at a distance of 15 (20) meters, are competing inside a 8 meters wide area. Each player tr ies to hit the ball across the opponent's end line. The ball has to be returned with a hit from the point where it ran over one of the side lines or where it was controlled by the opponent.

It takes longer for goalies to develop excellent eye-hand coordination than too learn to cover the lower portion of the net.

One child starts as goalie and stands between the cones. The other children stand at the 20-foot tape spot. The first child rolls a tennis ball with her racket, and when she gets to the 10-foot tape spot, she pushes the ball hard and shoots the ball toward the goal. The goalie uses his racket to stop the ball.
